About Us | Organisation
‘Growing in Good Health’ for Over 40 Years.
Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service provides quality, culturally appropriate health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Kempsey, Nambucca Heads and surrounding communities.
Meaning ‘to grow in good health’, the name ‘Durri’ was gifted to the organisation by the local Aboriginal community.
We support our communities to grow in good health through the delivery of primary medical, dental and allied health services, as well as community outreach programs.
New patients
Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service offers a number of primary, allied health and specialist services which are available to members of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
If you are interested in accessing Durri ACMS’ full range of services, you must first book an appointment with a Durri General Practitioner who will complete an initial Health Assessment.
Booking an Appointment
The Durri ACMS Primary Health Clinic has a combination of “drop-in” appointments and booked appointments. We strongly encourage you to pre-book your appointment where possible.
Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred Doctor. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time when booking your appointment.
If you or a family member requires an interpreter service, we can organise this for you.
To make an appointment at the Durri ACMS Primary Health Clinic in Kempsey please call 02 6560 2300.
To make an appointment at the Darrimba Maarra Health Outpost in Nambucca Heads please call 02 6598 6800.
Our walk-in service will be assessed by registered nurses to determine the urgency of seeing a general practitioner on the same day. Please keep in mind that while we strive to provide prompt care, we are not an emergency department. For emergencies, please call triple zero 000
Should we be unable to see you, Durri ACMS operates a referral system to other providers who may be able to assist.
What to Bring to Your Appointment?
Please ensure that you bring a valid Medicare Care and/or Health Care/Pension Card with you to your appointment.
You will be asked to confirm your current contact details upon each appointment, so that we are able to contact you if we need to. Please ensure that your contact details are current upon presentation at Durri.
Bulk Billing
Durri ACMS is a bulk billing service, however costs may be incurred when you are referred for investigations, you need to visit other providers or specialists, and for some medications. This should be discussed with your doctor during consultation.
